The New Hospital Project, a 9-story, 764,000 square foot (sf), class I-2 building located on a green field site in Owensboro, Kentucky. The program for the project includes: 371 patient rooms (442 patient beds), 16 operating rooms, 8 special procedure rooms, 12 diagnostic rooms, emergency department, central sterile, pharmacy, lab, engineering and mechanical support space, and amenities. The construction budget for the project was approximately $268 million. The facility was designated by Audubon International as the first Certified Signature Sanctuary in the state of Kentucky and is the first hospital in the world to achieve this certification. Engineering News-Record recognized the hospital as one of the Best Projects of 2013. AEI performed the Special Inspections and Testing for the new hospital which consisted of 6,800 tons of structural steel, 18,800 cubic yards of concrete and 26,000 square feet of masonry construction.
